    I have just configured a wildcard subdomain on an account on my WHM/cPanel server.

    It works fine from a local subdomain, ie:

    *.{domain} -> app.{domain}

    But if I try to set up a CNAME from an external domain, like below, I just get the default page:

    *.{externaldomain} CNAME -> app.{domain}

    I belive this is something to do with the VirtualHost but, as far as I can tell, I can't edit that manually as any cPanel/WHM updates will overwrite it?

    How can I achieve this? Is it even possible?

    Hello,

    Are you able to setup the wildcard subdomain entry via the "Subdomains" option in cPanel? If so, that should configure the proper Apache entries and allow you to make the DNS modifications manually on the DNS host for that subdomain.

    Thank you.
