    Follow these two steps first :

    In WHM --> Edit DNS zone for the domain add

    * IN A <IP>

    i.e * entry pointing to your IP

    Now edit httpd.conf and locate your virtualhost entry and add

    ServerAlias *.mydomain.com

    Save and restart.

    Now use normal WHM install to install the SSL cert for your maindomain.com

    When fill up the form in "Generate a SSL Certificate and Signing Request" , there is a field "Host to make cert for", should I use *.mydomain.com or just mydomain.com ?

    For a wildcard cert you would use "*.mydomain.com"
