While the popularity increase continues to skyrocket, I wonder if cPanel will ever give users the option of Installing Roundcube by default? It is an easy procedure to install Roundcube but nonetheless I think it would be a great benefit if it were a webmail client that was installed and updated via cPanel.

I don't think that it is easy for cpanel to integrate an "alpha" quality software. However i noticed that in the latest release version of cpanel it is very simple to install and maintain roundcube. Have a look here http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?t=75032 .

Would be great if they did! RC is the best free webmail app out there right now.

Given the demand for RoundCube support, once it reaches final release, serious thought will likely be given by the Development and QA teams about bundling this product with cPanel/WHM.

In other words, we should all visit the roundcube website and ask them when they will be *finally* releasing into production?

I get the feeling however, that it's one of those applications that will be in beta forever.... (going on 2+ years now)

Just because an application is in 'beta' doesn't mean it's not functional. It means that the developers have not deemed it stable enough for their uses. In fact, this is stable enough software. I've been using it for a good couple years with no issues at all.

Actually, I think voting for it might be more helpful. :)

Not sure pushing for something to be a production release is a good idea if the developers know it's not ready.

I would like this added too, I have had a lot of requests for this.

    Especially since Neomail was removed.

Don't worry, internal testing has been in progress since the day it reached 0.1 stable (Internal Cases 4468 and 4503). Keep in mind, we will need to put it through our Quality Assurance process before it is implemented. I know myself, I would love to see RoundCube bundled with cPanel/WHM by default if QA can ensure it will function well for the vast majority of our customers :).

I do not have an ETA for the bundling of RoundCube at this time.

If you installed it to /usr/local/cpanel/base/roundcube, that will be renamed to roundcube.previous then the cPanel provided one installed to /usr/local/cpanel/base/roundcube

So for those of us who had already installed RoundCube, what do we need to do now to get cPanel's version of it?

Edit: sorry, I hadn't seen page 2 of the thread.
