Hello,

I had 2 wordpress installations on my website.

The first one was on www.example.com[/URL]
And the second one on www.example.com/thema1

Today when i installed wordpress on www.example.com/thema2 all my content on the site www.example.com/thema1 was gone. With softaculous i still can see that "thema1" still exsists. But all my files that were there are gone now.

Is there a way to bring them back?
And what was the reason that all my files there vanished while this url is still there?

Hello @dezoin

It sounds like you overwrote the path for example.com/thema1 but it's difficult to know if this is the case without seeing the configuration. What is present in the documentroot for thema1?

Thanks!

What is kinda disturbing is that the path of thema1 is /home/username/public_html/thema1 but when i look in the file manager the whole thema1 folder is gone.

I hope you have enough information now

HI @dezoin

I think in order to find out exactly what happened and if the data is still there it might be best to open a ticket. You can do this using the link in my signature, once open please update this thread with the ticket ID

Thanks!

Top Tip for Softaculous users:

As soon as you install any application from Softaculous - navigate to the Softaculous interface in the users cPanel and TAKE A BACKUP (use the Softaculous default backup location, and do NOT store backups in the same folder you are trying to protect !)

Even if you overwrite or accidentally delete the installation folder or database, or delete the installation in Softaculous, you will be able to restore the installation from the Softaculous backups repository.

It is not a bad idea to use this facility to trigger a backup before you make any changes to the install, if they go wrong, you can always roll back to the latest backup.

It is also a GREAT idea to use the Softaculous clone facility if you want to try new potentially destructive changes such as theme or code changes. This will enable you to experiment first without wrecking a production site.
