Wordpress Manager Error

    Client deleted all the content in public_html and now can't delete the site in Wordpress Manager. Now in Wordpress Manager when trying to manage the instance we get:

    Error: The system cannot locate an installation with the requested unique identifier.

    How can we manually remove that?

    Hello @jamesgrabatin,

    I've been unable to reproduce the issue you have described. I installed WordPress to the public_html directory of an account using "cPanel >> Site Software", and then deleted all contents from the public_html directory. Next, I browsed to "cPanel >> Site Software", clicked on the "Uninstall" tab for the WordPress installation, and was able to successfully delete it.

    Can you verify which version of cPanel & WHM is installed on this system? EX:

    You can even try to delete the wordpress database and then try.. incase that helps.

    So I found that in "cPanel >> Site Software" I can use the Uninstall there.
    Where I was running into the issue is navigating to "cPanel >> Wordpress Manager"
    The install would be listed, but when I clicked on "Manage" that's where I'd get the error.
    I expected to be able to Uninstall from there, but the Uninstall option doesn't exist there.
    Maybe something to add for a future release? Navigating to the Wordpress Manager to Uninstall might be intuitive for others as well, imo.

    I did delete the database, but still got the error. Wordpress Manager said it was looking for an instance with an unique identifier. Assume it must be referencing its own database of installed Wordpress instances.

    Thanks for the additional information. You're right, manually removing the core WordPress files associated with the installation will lead to the following error message when attempting to manage the installation using the WordPress Manager feature in cPanel:

    Manually removing the core WordPress files is not a supported method of uninstalling WordPress and can lead to unexpected behavior. As a workaround, you can browse to "cPanel >> Site Software" and click on the "Uninstall" tab for the WordPress installation. Or, you can browse to the /home/username/.cpaddons/ directory and move the corresponding YAML file out of the way:

    cd /home/username/.cpaddons
    mv -v cPanel\:\:Blogs\:\:WordPressX.0.yaml{,-bak}
    This should clear the broken installation from the interface. Ensure you browse to cPanel >> MySQL Databases and delete the database associated with the broken WordPress installation as well.
