I uploaded several JPG files that I'd created using MS Paint. But, strangely, the type is being described as , "text/x-generic", instead of "image/x-generic". May I know why?

Check and see and make sure you have them saved as image.jpg and not image.jpg.txt sounds like a silly mistake..I have seen plenty!!!

Either that or the MIME types are messed and may need to reconfigure your Apache.

also, in the past, long past, I remember having issues with files from MS Paint.
This goes back several versions of Windows, when a lot of things from MS weren't exactly to 'standards'.

I'm not saying this is your problem. But when I had issues like this, I would open the file in another image program, like Picasa, and resave the jpg. Then suddenly it would work.
