    Do not run this verison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    buildapache.sea (Fri May 7 01:38:34 2004)

I have already run this version twice tonight. All 461 of our site is down in the dumps with only php sites running. What the hell!!!!!!!!!

How many time do i have to run this version?

When i run /etc/init.d/httpd start it tells me httpd is running but its not. In error log i see.

[Sat May 8 03:19:25 2004] [warn] pid file /usr/local/apache/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?

FIX THE DAMN ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 400+ sites down at 3am and nothing i have done has been able to start them.

We are stuck here as well, I just wish we had of known there was a problem sooner before we ran the script. We have many unhappy customers right now....

They escalted our ticket to a level 2 technician, though I included your post here just in case they have not already seen it. Hopefully since more than one person is having the same issue, we can get something done a bit faster.

This is a major issue, especially since we have a running server that appears fully down because of apache.

I did not see any errors in my compile so im not sure what the issue is with it. Good thing i made a copy of my httpd.conf before starting like everyone should be doing but thats not the issue. Its not http.conf, its something else. Right now im hopping mad!

Just looks like apache is the issue, everything else is working fine (i.e. bind, MySQL, ect). Maybe there is something missing or when it does compile, it does not shut down and restart correctly....I really can't be sure to be honest.

I've not been give any details other than an escalation of the ticket.

Ongoing for me since 12:00am last night.... Ongoing 11 hours, possibly 12...

Same here. All sites written in php are working, pop3, ftp etc with the exception of http. http is not working and that accounts for 95% of the sites on this box. Im recompiling the box again and leaving out certain modules, just going with very stock modules to see if something i chose was the reason. I will let you know if the box comes back online after its done.

If I had that version, I'd be doing ok, possibly. Just seems that the current is broken beyond repair.

Head nothing from CPanel. No posts in the forums, no answers to tickets. Next time i will not be the guinea pig. Im compiling the older version, anything, just to get the box up for now then i will deal with the details laster.

Would it be possible for you to post that for me? Attempting with an older build apache may help....can you confirm it works?

good point :), thanks much, working with a little less is better than not working at all. I've still got nothing from CPanel.

If this works all you would need to do is get the source code for a new version of php and recompile it. I have the source to all the php versions on my other boxes. My CPU must be smoking. Its been working overtime with all these compiles and im still waiting for php to finish. Ill let you know.

Well, I can't say I've gotten a response from CPanel either, I'm surprised at this because normally, CPanel gets me taken care of in like 1-2 hours, 6 hours max.

I think phone support should be available for something like this without having to request it and pay for it. Things like this are not problems of our own, the software should be stable before released, especially on stable releases of CPanel and updates.

xSaintDog, my box is back online. Do this, log into WHM and run UPDATE APACHE from WHM instead of from the command line. After about an hour of it running my httpd restarted and now all http sites are back online!
