    Hi all,

    I'm rather new at running my own dedicated server, so far so good. Originally I was running plesk which for some unknown halting issues, I have asked my hosting company to format and reinstall everything but this time using WHM/cpanel.

    Can someone tell me why is that I can't get to my domain via www or ftp prefix? :(

    mydomainname.com works but www.mydomainname.com won't nor does ftp.mydomainname.com.

    http.conf serveralias has the detail and so does the entry in dns zones.

    Thanks in advance!

    G'day Rasilva,

    Check your DNS zone file there should be a cname setup for www and also check your http.conf for

    <VirtualHost {IP} >
    "ServerAlias www.youdomain.com yourdomain.com"

    It does takes awhile to propagate for your DNS - usually approx. 4 - 24 hours. Or restart your DNS bind service for instant propagation though not recommended if you are hosting other clients.
