Congrats also, Bert. It's nice to see DarbOrb doing some positive changes in the area of Skins.

BIG DEAL! I would much rather see them doing other things, not taking control of skins. There are more important issue to deal with than a pretty skin. Skins are a dime a dozen. Bug fixes are not and thats what we need.

I dont want my resellers selecting X or X2 from the themes menu and assigning it to their user sites!!! Why can't i control what i want them to see? I already have a version of Xskin that my resellers can select. Just another thing forced on us. If there was a way to disable it then that would be fine but now my resellers can assign them. What was Bert saying in the origional messages?

"It requires administrator intervention in order to move clients over to the new X SKINS release".

Thats not true at all. All my resellers can now select this theme!!!! It was bad enough that we couldnt disable DEFAULT and Y, YES, N, NO, Iconic etc, themes now we have to deal with one extra theme we cant stop our resellers from deploying!!! Hello! Can i control what my resellers can deploy? This is ridiculous. While i love the theme i think i should be given the option to allow or dissallow its use.

sexy_guy,

Although I tend to agree that the admin should be able to assign what skins each individual reseller has access to as part of the reseller permissions, I have to say that you venting your frustrations in the wrong place. Have you submitted a feature request to darkorb through the support section of the www.cpanel.net site on this subject? If not, then I would suggest that you do.

There will be no encryption either. cPanel owns the skins now and they will distribute the source code just like they did with the older default skins.

Does that mean once we upgrade to v7 we can remove the mail, iconic themes etc?

Very very nice notice :)

have some questions ...
we already have ... advanced, bluelagoon, default, iconic, mailonly, y, YES, NO, tree .... our custom theme, and the new x theme...

I think I will delete all and leave just "x, x2 and xmail" ...
is there a way to change things?
for example ... change all using "mailonly" to "xmail" ...
all using "iconic" to "x2" ... etc.

I know with some search & replace command could be done :)

Also...
does X themes support BRANDING ?
And what about LANGUAGES ?
And hey... the new FEATURE MANAGER ?

Oh! one more thing ...
I think that the control WHAT SKIN(s) a reseller can USE would be a VERY NICE feature.
I also want to remove for ever the Y, y, advanced, etc. themes... :)

Regards.

Hmmmm, I guess Nick will have to answer most of your questions. I know he didn't remove default, mailonly, iconic, etc. so that users would not complaint about having their skins changed, but I guess users now complaint about the fact that there are more themes

Impossible to please people, huh?

does X themes support BRANDING ?
Not yet. Kind of hard because of its layout (graphics), but it will be supporting branding within the next month.

And what about LANGUAGES ?
Supported just like it was supported with the default theme.

And hey... the new FEATURE MANAGER ?
Fully supported.

Sorry Bert, but I got some complaining to do. Even with CPanel owning the skins people can still remove your credits so how is this stopping this?

The theme file has been completely changed with a bunch of different commands instead of as to what was in the old version how come? I liked XSkins like they was before, secondly I got an icon missing and shell is enabled and no features are turned off and I can't seem to fnid out which it is and why. WHy is this?

Third, what you plan to do with the XSKin website design as I would love to purchase this from you if Cpanel doesn'tp lan to take it and change it to there site which would be a wise idea.

I personally removed the credit. cPanel PURCHASED all the rights and loyalties to the X SKINS from ProNIC Solutions, therefore I no longer play a role.

I don't understand what you mean by this. The theme/skin is identical, the only difference is that it now has the cPanel logo in the header and it has language compatibility.

The X SKINS website design is not available for sale. It will more than likely be used by cPanel as a replacement to their existing website.

Bert, what was your reason (or reasons) for your sudden change of heart when you obviously had some solid plans about the future direction of Xskins?

Another question that comes to my mind is: As part of the agreement, are you now not allowed to produce free or commercial Cpanel skins that might compete with the Xskin?

Side note: Given the run-ins you and I have had in a couple of other threads recently, I realise that you may ignore me completely (or give me the elbow or say "that's none of your f***ing business", etc.) and I will understand that... :D

No change of heart goodmove. Business is just that, business. I was very pleased with the agreement that was made with cPanel and therefore I decided to go through that route as opposed to sell the skins to individual users one by one.

For obvious reasons, I will not disclose any details concerning the cPanel/ProNIC Solutions agreement.

Not really, you might think I am a jack ass, but I am not. Even though I am not pleased about our previous thread exchanges and still don't understand the reasons that were behind your insistence with the X SKINS/icons topic, I don't have anything against you at all.

Another Default Cancelled

Well I am real happy Bert finally found a good home for his Xskin. Bert has done a remarkable job, and has went above and beyond the expectations of even this high demanding forum. I commend Bert on a job well done.

The sad news for me is that I have been developing a new default skin for Cpanel. I wasn't going to charge CPanel anything, I just wanted a nice looking default skins that was updated directly by Cpanel so I wouldnt have to rely on 3rd party theme makers to alway have the most up to date skin. I really put a lot of effort into planning this design, and more so planning a great method of navigation in this theme.

I created my own "Cpanel" exclusive icons too. Those I would be willing to sell to another party if they are in need of some icons specific to CPanel . I made around 42, and I have them in small 32x32, and medium 48x48 sizes. If interested in puchasing a "barebone" skin, please let me know. I really didnt get to far with the skin fortunetly. I spent many hours creating the icons of the design of the skin. I would be much more upset if I was never finished.lol

FYI: I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the Xskins being purchased by Cpanel. It will make a fine addition to CPanel INC. It was bad timing for me I guess. I already contacted Cpanel and asked if they were interested in a new default theme. They said yes of course. I guess I should have sent my screenshot a week ago lol. Early bird gets the worm. =o)

I would like to get rid of all these icons, and the design I have made. Any theme makers and/or hosts interested in purchasing this design, please contact me. My design can be easily intergrated into most of the skins available. It will not be extremely expenive either.

Well, I for one am glad I dont have to dig into any more of those pesky files. :D

I am happy to now have a default theme that is much easier on the eyes, and more lightwieght than the "Green Monster".

Of course I already made the Cpanel re-design to...shooot...damn, now what arrrhg.

PS: I am not going to sell the skin. I don't have the time, nor the patience right now. In the future perhaps I will create one to sell or if this one is not purchased(far future).

If you are interested in obtaining the skin or icons, I will produce a screenshot of them all for you to view. and the design is 100% coded by myself along with all the graphics included. I am skilled enough to make my own thanks. =o)

Oh well here is a screenshot of the skin. I would have made a demo, but...welll yall know this forum hehe =o) I put in a large C and lightley lined out the icons.

Thanks everyone

Edizon, at the time of this posting you're URL was not resolving?

If you'd like, shoot me an eMail/PM as I would like to discuss about the icons you created.

I think its kind of embarrassing....hehe

If anyone want to finish an excellent theme to sell or have for there own hosting company this theme is available. Full rights to the theme can be purchased at a more than reasonable price. I will show more when I get my servers back online. Right now that is my biggest concern.

Thanks

X Skin 2

Hello,

I just want to make sure that the new X Skin 2 will use the same directory structure and file names for email operations as X Skin 1.7 - e.g. right now this path is used for removing email accounts:
/frontend/Xskin/mail/dodelpop.html , and also will the syntax after the html file remains the same as it is in the older versions?

I am asking because one of the scripts I have installed uses this method to create / delete / edit email accounts and it needs to know the exact location based on the skin.

Thanks!

Tomas

So let me get this straight ;)

All I need to do is run /scripts/upcp when set to edge and cpanel automatically d/ls xskins and installs it as default?

Or do I need to do something else?
