That comment is bull ****, Nick worked with us all weekend on issues and concerns, something he did not have to do,,,, BUT HE DID!!! All day SAT. and Sunday, then again yesterday.

Cpanel has come along way and has a great product. If you do not like the damn skin, then use x or go build your own.

Joey
Thank you for stating your opinion just as I stated mine above

It's been said enough times but cpanel team does not care about customer opinion in this matter I believe, their design is good enough for them and nothing else matters I guess.

The features might be good but design is ages behind indeed.

There are also plenty of icon companies which they can hire to do the icons.

http://www.iconplant.com/
http://iconfactory.com/
http://www.icongalore.com/
http://www.everaldo.com/
http://www.yellowicon.com/

They can even hire a freelance designer for cheap, if they have the budget then go with ceonex but in my opinion a freelancer would do a better job for much less.
WireNine, I'm sorry you don't like the new theme, however a lot of people do. You aren't stuck with the icons that come with it. x3 has a extensive branding/skinning interface so you can change almost every image in it if you aren't happy with them. Its never going to be possible for us to deliver a skin that everyone likes, so we have tried to make it as easy as possible to change it. The whole concept of custom themes is based on this principle.

You guys claimed that the 'Evolution' skin was liked by most people too until I brought you some cold hard figures ... X3 is better than Evolution, but NOT by much. And considering the VAST majority of people responded negatively to evolution, what does that tell you...

It's ok nick, I understand your dilemma and I'd hate to be in your position when it came to this issue. Cpanel will sell licenses whether it looks good or like arse as it's a top product and has virtually no competition (plesk shmesk ...pfft)

I'm sure if you guys provide a good API a nice 3rd party skin will come along eventually.

I don't hate it, it just appears to be behind it's time. I am hoping the redesigning of cpanel would be much easier in CP 11 :)

Change the images, styles are more easier in X3 but extend it, change the design, integrate the plugin, and etc. are a lot more difficult. Almost impossible for ordinary people to make a custom theme based on it. A lot of implementation that not necessary but impose several issues to your system such as icon splices. I know you cannot turn it back. Next time please don't try to show the cool programming skill without an obvious reason to do it.

Perhaps there should be a poll to see how many people like or dislike X3?

Icon Sprites we done to reduce the load time for people with slow connections. It was a 400% speed up in some cases. What specifically do you have difficult about it?

Its kinda moot at this point since we are shipping x3 as its clearly better then x. In reality we ever never going to be able to deliver a perfect theme because thats just not possible. We could work on it forever and NEVER release anything, but I don't think thats a good idea either.

Should be easier to integrate plugins now, not harder :) :

It might be better than X, but a poll would still let you know what % of users like X3 overall, not compared to X.
Could start a poll, but its not going to be accurate unless we FORCE everyone to respond. The goal was to modernize and improve the x skin without moving too far away from what people are used to. Its generally not a good idea to change a user interface unless there is something very wrong with it. I don't think everyone wants to relearn how to use cPanel with every new version.

Is there a "valid" test link for this preview or screenshots available?

Well I suppose this is why there is a market for skins.

Well, while you guys are fighting over the appearance of the icons, I'm having serious problems with the EDGE version. Frontpage extensions don't work and I've tried everything. Now I'm just rolling back to the stable version and it really sucks because I introduced cPanel to my customers using the x3 theme which is a lot easier to use (provides more text info on features) and I for one think it looks a whole lot better than x.

If anyone know how to the fix the Frontpage issue, I'd love to roll back to the EDGE version. Everything else appeared to work fine.

Which version of apache were you using? Frontpage is EOL now.
