One thing is make the length a tad shorter, my screen is wide enough for it, but alot of people are still using around 800 x 600 or around 1024 x 700.

I would still like to see a skin designed by professionals who know what they are doing :)

Looks a lot better then the std x theme, and better then the evolution theme, prefer the icons too!

The left colum looks too cluttered, the top and bottom need to be separated. It also needs some kind of border arround it as it looks a little lost on the screen.

Perhaps move the bandwidth from the left to the centre and as a graphy showing the usage over the current month so its more promanant to see where bandwidth is been used. Also instead of having a seperat page stating the server status have this showing.

Hope you understand what I am getting at.

Dave,

There seems to be some problems with dragging the different icon groups, some disappear, sometimes the code just errors out. When it does anything you click on seems to bring you to the ClamAV setup page.

I'm really hoping there's a reason for the use of tables. Otherwise, why not mark up the cPanel interface properly and let the users design their own themes?

I agree that this looks a little too much like "our designer was on lunch, so our developers came up with this."

PS: There's an entity for the infinity symbol: ∞. It would probably look better than the pixalated GIF being used now.

I think this should be the next default cpanel skin ;)

http://www.wirenine.com/cpanel-nexgen.gif - I worked on it myself for about an hour, thinking of what the perfect cpanel skin would be like, ofcourse its not completed but its something. I don't think anyone will be able to code this for CPanel unless cpanel team decides to make something similar :)

Just to give idea to the CPanel team that their control panel is about a generation behind design wise.

Yeah it's nice, but I don't think that cPanel are going to change direction this late in the game.

It'd be good to see your version complete though, to see how the overall thing would look.

I agree. Or at least add the ability to change that god awfull green, or turquois, whatever it is. Do it the way vbulletin does it, where you set up your own color scheme. The sample design shown so far is hideous. And what makes it more repuslive is the boxtrapper icon glaring out at me.

Overall - It looks like the old design with a couple new icons, and some "cool effects" code slapped in from http://www.dynamicdrive.com .

Overall Score
*****

That's a good start. I would add one more thing right on the front page though though....

Is it just me or is there a little improvement in the icons, only some of them not all. :)

Wouldn't posting this to your own thread be better? This isn't about your theme, it's about cPanels working on one.
I am not trying to sell the theme nor promote it in anyway, this is my way of giving them ideas on how to change their skin , not that my theme is anywhere near perfect.

personally i dont like anything ive seen so far.

x in my opinion is still by far the best skin, ok so it might not be the best looking one but theres no denying its the easiest to use and navigate

Theres no need whatsoever to be adding "moveable" categorys and the first line of this thread:

we've reworked the x theme to offer a lot more
is false, i dont see any new features that would benefit me or my clients, if anything its been made worse, for example:

http://cpx3demo.com:2082/frontend/x3/sql/index.html

What was wrong with the one page layout? this just over complicates things for users old and new.

I have to agree with some of the others in this thread, outsource the design and stick to what you know best, programming.

from my point of view is orrible and I prefer a framed theme.
I love the interworx graphic style , to give you an idea.
By the way also the Directadmin theme seems to better than this (also if direct admin uses a no frame theme).
