    OK I have:

    WHM 6.4.2 Cpanel 6.4.2-R79 RedHat 7.3 - WHM Xskin v 1.6

I don't want to upgrade to cpanel 7 till its stable, so:

-what is the latest version of Xskin i can update to?
-Where can i get this update? There does not seem to be anyway to update the skin in WHM/Cpanel.
-I need the WHM and CPanel skin

Honestly guys, i think cpanel goes out of there way to confuse the hell out of users, I have been all round this forum and http://www.webhostingtalk.com and could not find an answer to this simple question.

So is anyone going to put me (and other users) out of our misery and give me a straight answer?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm sorry but there is an answer on how to get the latest X-Skin from cpanel installed on your server via this forum. I have seen 1 or 2 threads explaining how to do this. This might not be the answer your looking for(the strait answer) but its here, Dig a little deeper, I'll look around for it and post it if I can find it. I've run the latest 'Release' version on productions servers just fine since the cp7 release considering there isn't a stable yet. I don't usually do that either but I figured a little chance everyonce in a while would be allright....

If you do a little search, you will find out soon that the X SKINS are no longer distributed as stand-alone skins.

If you are a little lucky or know someone who has older versions, such as 2.0 or below, you will be able to get it, otherwise I would recommend that you update your box. cPanel 7 is quite stable now.

Why are you in a misery for the latest XSkin? If you read the latest thread about the XSkin flap, you'd see why 2.0 is hard to get. 2.1 is out and with Cpanel 7 and only included with Cpanel 7.

Thanks guys. I will hold off for the stable release.

But I do still think that cpanel are very bad at communicating with their customers, this page http://www.cpanel.net/xskins.htm tells you nothing, and i am not the other user who is confused.

    Brian,

I understand your concerns, but there is really nothing much to communicate here. Basically, as the press release says, cPanel purchased the entire rights to the X SKINS from us and they are incorporating them gradually into cPanel as their new default themes.

    The new themes:

    x <-- Default theme
x2 <-- Same as x, but different header
    xmail <-- Mail only theme

The existing default themes (default, mailonly, iconic) will eventually be eliminated, but they will still be available for a few months I believe so that users have plenty of time to migrate to the new themes.

    Hope this clarifies doubts.

There is a way of getting the new skins without upgrading by tricking Cpanel into thinking you have the new vesrion. Let me know if you want do this ;).

change your update preferences to "release", do a cPanel upgrade, which will give you cpanel 7.1.8. After the upgrade is complete, you'll have the new skins. Change your update preferences back to "stable", do another cPanel upgrade, and it'll downgrade you back to 6.4.2 and you'll still have the new x, x2, xmail themes :D

Why would you want to reverse back to stable once you have been at release? Running an update as release will make lots of changes to the box including an update to Exim, so reversing back to stable after that is really somewhat useless ;)

Release will kill you :D at least the Exim 4.0 has alot of problems such as duplicate e-mails being sent. So If you're going to convert to the Release then run

    /scripts/exim3.

    Or just:

    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/exim4

To make sure you have latest install.

Then troubleshoot the issues and act accordingly, like all normal system administrators do.

It didn't kill me. I don't have duplicates, etc.

    I'm at 7.1.0 WHM-E55/7.1.9 Cpanel-E55....

It also worked fine for me to go to R45 as well before I splurged and went to Edge55.
