    Hi,

If our company created a software similar to ModernBill which actually integrated into CPanel using custom CPanel/WHM Skins, would anyone be interested?

Customers would be able to log into CPanel and to edit billing information, upgrade their hosting package, buy a new service, submit a support ticket etc

You would be able to control your helpdesk from within WHM, post scheduled downtime notices, manage a customer mailing list, view customer information for account management, post to a news blog etc.

We'd probably sell it for around $80 USD, it would also automate domain registrations and the signup proceedure.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Might be. I like writing my own scripts and am currently working on some of those ideas myself for my site in my spare time. The only problem is, I don't have a lot of spare time. :D

For me then, it would depend on whether your software was ready before I got my own system going, and my finances at the time.

    Hi,

We'll probably make it all open source, with the exception of the updates script (so that we can make sure that people are sticking to the license). By doing this, you can develop your own add-ons for your own needs, or offer it to us for inclusion in the main distribution.

The great thing about it, is that you won't have to give your customers 2 control panels (CPanel + your account manager) which annoys lots of people.

Thanks and keep the posts coming ;)

It probbaly would be cool, if it were all it says it is, plus has all the general necessities.. i.e. payment systems (2checkout, authorize.net, paysystems, paypal) and enom, etc integration.

Modernbill is pretty big and has a to z features. the one you proposing is sort of lightweight, but will be good if everybody made modules maybe.

    Hi,

Thanks for your interest so far.

To be honest, it doesn't look too complicated, then again we haven't started yet so it may be a different story.

Sorry, but we're a "for profit" company with shareholders. Anything we do must go before a board and must be priced so that we at least break even.

I think that we'll design the skins tomorrow and see how we go from there.

I'm gathering that people prefer PHP with classes rather then general functions?

    Thanks,

    Rob

The price sounds very reasonable! My questions are:
How long will it take you to create this product?
Will you integrate popular payment systems as "Taz" mentioned (2checkout, authorize.net, paysystems, paypal)?
Can we really on your support when needed?

    Hi,

We want to keep it as low as possible, $80 is about as low as we can go to break even.

We've almost finished the first skin. It will probably be completed in the next 3-4 weeks.

Yes, we'll need to do it as people ask for them though as we would need access to the integration manuals from the payment systems.

Support will probably be via a forum with responses within 24 hours depending on the time posted.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi,

LOL... we've already started, and have it marked as a priority. We'd like some user input though on what you want in it.

I've setup a forum for people to throw around some ideas:

    http://www.thephpsite.com/forum/index.php

The product will be called "CP Complete".

    Thanks,

    Rob

Your product sounds very similar to: http://www.whmautopilot.com/

As that product is going up in price ( Price Increases from $149.95 to $199.95 on 08.15.03 or 9/1/03 -- depending upon which page one looks at ) anything substantially lower in price, with equal or better features, will be a welcome addition.

I would defintely be interested in viewing a working example of CP Complete, when ready for the public.

    Hi,

Am I correct in saying that WHM Autopilot does not integrate into a CPanel skin? I think CP Complete may be the first to do so.

    Thanks,

    Rob

Make sure you create separate language files so that subject-object-verb languages (Japanese, Korean, etc.) will work, too.;)

    Hi,

Yeah luckily we thought of that before starting, otherwise it would have been one hell of a job.

We're using the standard CPanel language file where we can, and have created another file that is simply included in every page for the other words and phrases. This means that resellers don't have to ask for access to the CPanel language file. As long as we don't forget to include something, CP Complete should be 100% translatable on release.

    Thanks,

    Rob

I would kill for a script like this!

Please make sure it will integrate with Linkpoint from Card Services International.

I assume you're familiar with ModernBill and what the users there are asking for?

What's your eta for a production version? I'm not into playing with betas.

    Hi,

The thing that takes the longest is the CPanel skin. I've PM'd Nick to ask him if we can adapt XSkin if we keep the CPanel copyright notices and don't sell it (we'll sell the backend system and scripts seperately).

Our company currently has a number of projects on the go at the moment, including high profile web sites to be developed and a number of services due to be launched.

We are currently try to push this through though asap as we would also like to use it soon for a new hosting site being setup.

I'd appreciate it if you posted features that you'd like at http://www.thephpsite.com/forum as it's easier for us to keep track of things from that forum.

I'll keep you posted on any further developments.

    Thanks,

    Rob
