    Hello all,

New here, just had a question. Is Cpanel going to have a YouTube clone click and install script anytime soon? Something like OSTube or PHPMotion?

    Thanks!

You could just use a html player, theres plenty of OpenSource ones, some with PHP - see what you can find - personally Id say cPanel probably have more important things. You could ask for it in the Feature request.

That would require quite a number of additional packages be installed and kept up to date. ffmpeg, flvtool2, lame, libogg, mplayer, libvorbis, ffmpeg-php, codecs, etc. to be kept up to date and made functionally able to be installed with ease on all platforms. Cpanel would / should never go for something like that. Depending on the distro it is being installed on, one can run into some really pain in the ass things that stand in the way of a clean compile that produces a functional ffmpeg.so.

I suppose a third party could attempt to create an addon for it - But I don't think there is anybody who would adequately maintain it.

Then you'd have every tom dick and harry installing youtube clone scripts - where are pretty much useless and often ridden with security issues because of poor development.

It's better for Cpanel to steer clear of this and just let individual Cpanel licensees install / update this software.

Either way, it isn't cPanel's place to do the one click script installs. That's more the place of things like Fantastico.
