Yum update is safe or risk?

I've entered "yum update" from SSH. But I enter "N" for no to update. I'm afraid If that was safe or risk. I'll keep database and FTP files safe.

Yes, you generally should keep your system packages updated. Note that EasyApache 4 packages are also handled through YUM, so you are missing out on EasyApache 4 updates if you choose to not update.

No, it's fine to update to CentOS 7.4. The "yum update" command will do this for you automatically. You won't lose settings, as it's not a major upgrade (e.g. CentOS 6 to CentOS 7).
