    Create a file "phpinfo" in an account:

    <? phpinfo(); ?>

    and view it via browser, you will see if you have Zend Optimizer installed. If not, you can execute /scripts/easyapache or download Zend Optimizer from http://www.zend.com/store/free_download.php?pid=13 and install it on your server. The installation process ir very simple:

    # tar -zxvf ZendOptimizer-2[1].1.0a-Linux_glibc21-i386.tar.gz
    # cd ZendOptimizer-2.1.0a-Linux_glibc21-i386
    # ./install.sh

    and follow instructions ;)

    create a php file with the following as instructed above:

    <? phpinfo(); ?>

    Look for the "Zend Optimizer" section, and it should say:
    Optimization Pass 1 enabled
    Optimization Pass 2 enabled
    Optimization Pass 3 enabled
    Optimization Pass 9 disabled
    Optimization Pass 10 disabled
    Zend Loader enabled

    Hello ThunderHostingDotCom,

    I am running this test script:

    <?php

    // Show all information, defaults to INFO_ALL
    phpinfo();

    // Show just the module information.
    // phpinfo(8) yields identical results.
    phpinfo(INFO_MODULES);

    ?>

    and it show the following for zend when ran:

    This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:
    Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003 Zend Technologies with Zend Extension Manager v1.0.0, Copyright (c) 2003, by Zend Technologies with Zend Optimizer v2.1.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003, by Zend Technologies

    also:

    Zend Optimizer
    Optimization Pass 1 enabled
    Optimization Pass 2 enabled
    Optimization Pass 3 enabled
    Optimization Pass 9 disabled
    Optimization Pass 10 disabled
    Zend Loader enabled
    License Path no value

    Installed right?
    And it appears to be in my php.ini file.

    I don't have a "Zend Optimizer" section in my phpinfo.php file. I only have "Zend Extension 20021010" at the top of the page.

    I also found that in my php info,
    "Zend Extension 20021010"
    and
    "Configuration File (php.ini) Path /usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini"

    When I installed /scripts/installzendopt I went with the defalts for locations of Zend and php.ini

    I think my old php.ini was in usr/local/lib/php.ini
    now the file name is light blue and has a @ next to it like php.ini@.

    The new php.ini location is /usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini

    Would this make a differents in the scripts being able to find zend?

    From everything your saying, it sounds like things should work. Is this effecting more than one script? Are you getting any errors in the apache logs when you try to run the script?

    Zend is basically not working at all on our servers since the upgrade. We need it to work with WHM Autopilot but not a chance right now.....

    Anyone know why the Zend lines were removed from php.ini?

    My guess: "They figured it wasn't working right."

    Checkit:

    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ; Dynamic Extensions ;
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ; if you wish to have an extension loaded automaticly, use the
    ; following syntax: extension=modulename.extension
    ; for example, on windows,
    ; extension=msql.dll
    ; or under UNIX,
    ; extension=msql.so
    ; Note that it should be the name of the module only, no directory information
    ; needs to go here. Specify the location of the extension with the extension_dir directive above.

    ; zend_optimizer.optimization_level=15
    ; zend_extension="/usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendOptimizer.so"

    Notice how the extension points to /usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendOptimizer.so? Well...

    root@earth [/home/xxxx/www]# ll /usr/local/Zend/lib/
    total 64
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Jul 31 11:12 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Jul 31 11:12 ../
    drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Jul 31 11:12 Optimizer-2.1.0/
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Jul 31 11:12 Optimizer_TS-2.1.0/
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 22708 Jul 31 17:38 ZendExtensionManager.so*
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 22708 Jul 31 17:38 ZendExtensionManager_TS.so*

    I dunno if it's only ME but the optimizer libs aren't in the /usr/local/Zend/lib dir, they are in the /usr/local/Zend/lib/Optimizer-2.1.0/php-x.x.x/ dir.

    Something's fishy. :) Hope we can get this up and running because I have a few multi-platformed applications I designed that are KIA at the moment.
